Why is my Maya eSIM not working?

To try to fix a Maya eSIM if you can’t connect, work through six checks in order: 

1. Confirm your coverage area. Check that your Maya plan includes your current destination.

2. Turn on data roaming.

5. Refresh the connection.

   iPhone: Enable “Airplane mode” for 30 seconds, then disable it.

   Android: Toggle “Airplane mode” on and off or restart the phone completely.

6. Select a network manually.

   iPhone: Turn off “Automatic network selection” and try available networks.

   Android: Open “Network operators” and select an available partner manually.

If the eSIM is connecting for the first time, a restart can resolve many initial connection problems by forcing the phone to register with the local network again. Try that before making more drastic changes.

Most importantly, don’t delete your Maya eSIM as your first troubleshooting step. Maya specifically advises against it. Reinstallation may require assistance or another installation link, depending on the circumstances.

Why is my Maya eSIM getting no service?

“No service” on an eSIM means the phone can’t register on a partner network — the most common reasons are that the plan hasn’t started yet, the eSIM line is switched off, or no partner carrier is available at that exact location.

First, confirm that the Maya line is enabled and that you’re already in a destination covered by your plan. Some travel eSIMs don’t connect to a network until you reach the destination where they’re intended to work.

Why isn’t my data working on my Maya eSIM?

If the eSIM shows bars but no data loads, the eSIM is almost always not selected as the mobile data line, or data roaming is switched off for that line.

This can be confusing on a dual-SIM phone because the default voice line and default mobile data line are separate settings. Keep your primary SIM as the default voice line and select Maya for mobile data. 

On an iPhone, go to “Settings” > “Cellular” or “Mobile service” > “Cellular data” and make sure the Maya eSIM is selected. Then open the Maya line and confirm that “Data roaming” is enabled. To reduce the risk of your phone silently switching back to your home carrier, it is generally safer to disable “Allow cellular data switching” while using a travel eSIM, unless your provider specifically instructs you otherwise. Why is my Maya eSIM not working on Android?

If a Maya eSIM is installed on an Android device but has no data, the APN is one of the settings to check. 

On a Samsung Galaxy, the usual path is “Settings” > “Connections” > “Mobile networks” > “Access point names.” On a Google Pixel, go to “Settings” > “Network & internet” > “SIMs” > “Maya” > “Access point names.” Menu names vary slightly by Android version and device manufacturer.

Maya’s current Android troubleshooting instructions use “globaldata” as the APN, with the username and password left blank. However, Maya also states that APN changes aren’t normally required unless an APN has been provided for your eSIM. If your activation details specify a different APN, enter it exactly as supplied and avoid extra spaces. 

Also check “Preferred network type.” A phone locked to 5G-only mode may fail to register if the available partner network uses 4G. Selecting an automatic option such as “5G/LTE/3G auto” gives the phone more flexibility.

Some Android interfaces also include a separate “Mobile data” switch for each SIM. Make sure it’s enabled for the Maya eSIM rather than only for your physical SIM.
