Do US phones work in Mexico?

During your trip, you’ll probably want to share pics and videos and stay in touch with family and friends as much as possible. But will your phone work in Mexico? That depends on the type of phone you have, whether it’s unlocked, and what type of plan you have. Most current US smartphones do have 5G network compatibility with Mexican carriers, including:

• iPhones 12 and newer.

Additionally, some older Pixels and iPhone 11 models are compatible with Mexico’s major mobile networks and work on LTE, but they may have limited or no 5G roaming in Mexico.

Some plans, such as the Essentials plan, don’t include high-speed data in Mexico at all and are capped at 128 Kbps.
