VOXI eSIM: Plans and how to get one

VOXI has supported eSIM technology since December 2024, allowing you to use a digital SIM instead of inserting a physical SIM card into your phone. You’ll need a compatible device, and if you’re bringing your own phone, it should be carrier unlocked. This guide covers VOXI eSIM plans, compatible devices, activation, troubleshooting, transfers, and staying connected abroad with VOXI or a travel eSIM.

VOXI eSIM: Plans and how to get one

Does VOXI support eSIM technology?

VOXI supports eSIM technology for new and existing customers with compatible devices. New customers can select an eSIM when ordering a plan, while existing customers can switch from a physical SIM through their VOXI account.

VOXI is a contract-free mobile brand operated by Vodafone Limited and now uses The Nation’s Network — the combined Vodafone and Three mobile network, with coverage varying by location. If you’re comparing providers, you can see how a Vodafone UK eSIM works or check which carriers support eSIM.

When VOXI first launched eSIM support in 2024, it was promoted for SIM-only plans. VOXI now also provides eSIM setup instructions for customers who buy a device directly from the company, with the eSIM profile linked to the device and downloaded during setup.

VOXI eSIM plans and pricing

A VOXI eSIM uses the same plans as a physical VOXI SIM — the eSIM is a delivery method and doesn’t require a separate tariff. VOXI plans run as flexible 30-day rolling subscriptions and include unlimited standard calls and texts, along with 5G on compatible devices. Selected plans also include unlimited data for supported social media, music, and video apps in the UK.

Choosing to use an eSIM over a physical SIM doesn’t cost extra — you only pay for the plan. A general VOXI free trial eSIM plan isn’t currently advertised, although eligible students can get their first month free on selected student plans, which are also available with an eSIM.

VOXI also doesn’t offer pay-as-you-go plans. VOXI’s eSIM option is tied to its rolling plans, so if you’re comparing it with a traditional UK prepaid SIM card, that distinction is worth keeping in mind.

These plans are primarily designed for UK use, with different roaming limits applying overseas. For international travel, Saily Ultra provides global data across 121 destinations, while an eSIM for the UK can suit visitors who mainly need connectivity during a UK trip.

Which phones work with a VOXI eSIM

A VOXI eSIM requires an eSIM-compatible phone. If the device came from another provider, it should also be carrier unlocked and running current software.

As of September 24, 2026, VOXI publishes the following compatible-device list:

  • Apple — iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, 11 series, SE 2020, 12 series, 13 series, 14 series, 15 series, 16 series, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 and 17 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Duo.

  • Samsung — Galaxy S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, and S25 ranges; Galaxy Note 20 models; Galaxy Z Flip, Flip3, Flip4, Flip5, and Flip6; Galaxy Fold and Z Fold2 through Fold6; plus selected Galaxy A35, A54, and A55 models.

  • Google — Pixel 3 and newer models currently listed by VOXI through the Pixel 9 range, including selected Pixel Fold devices.

  • Other supported phones include selected models from Fairphone, HONOR, Motorola, OPPO, Sony, Xiaomi, and Nokia.

VOXI’s compatibility list focuses on smartphones and doesn’t list Apple Watch, so a VOXI Apple Watch eSIM or OneNumber-style smartwatch service isn’t currently advertised.

Many compatible phones support dual SIM functionality, allowing a VOXI eSIM to run alongside another physical SIM or eSIM. You can then choose which line handles mobile data, calls, and texts.

How to get a VOXI eSIM

New customers can join VOXI Mobile with an eSIM, while existing customers can switch a physical VOXI SIM to an eSIM. If you want a broader explanation first, see how to get an eSIM.

New customers: Order online

Have a UK address, valid payment details, and access to your email on another screen — or a way to print it out.

  1. Choose a VOXI plan online.

  2. Select “eSIM” as the SIM type at checkout.

  3. Create your account and complete the payment checks shown.

  4. Pay for the plan.

  5. Open the setup email VOXI sends after purchase.

  6. Keep the VOXI eSIM QR code ready for installation.

VOXI says eSIM customers can get onto its network in as little as 10 minutes because they don’t need to wait for a physical SIM delivery.

Existing customers: Switch your VOXI SIM to an eSIM

Existing customers can convert a VOXI physical SIM to an eSIM through their online account.

  1. Sign in to your VOXI account.

  2. Open “Settings.”

  3. Go to “Manage my SIM.”

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to switch to an eSIM.

  5. Install the new eSIM when prompted.

  6. Keep the physical SIM until you’ve confirmed that the eSIM is working.

Your VOXI phone number and plan stay with your account during the swap. Once the eSIM is active, the old physical SIM stops providing service.

Compatible iPhones can also use Apple’s quick transfer. For more information about the process generally, see how to convert a SIM to an eSIM.

To move from a VOXI eSIM to a physical SIM later, contact VOXI and request a replacement physical SIM by post.

Getting your QR code (and what to do if it doesn’t arrive)

After you pay for your VOXI plan, VOXI sends a setup email containing the QR code and manual installation details. VOXI doesn’t specify a separate delivery time for the QR-code email — its guidance simply says you’ll receive the email once you’ve paid.

Open the email on another device or print it so that your phone can scan the VOXI eSIM QR code. If you don’t have access to a second screen, you can enter the installation details manually. A QR code that has already been used may require a replacement eSIM profile from VOXI.

Check your spam or junk folder if the email doesn’t appear. Contact VOXI support if you still can’t find it or need help obtaining a replacement profile.

How to set up and activate your VOXI eSIM

You can complete VOXI eSIM activation yourself. Before you start, make sure you have:

  • A compatible, carrier-unlocked phone running current software.

  • A stable Wi-Fi connection.

  • Your VOXI QR code or setup details.

  • An active VOXI plan.

VOXI says eSIM customers can access its network in as little as 10 minutes. The eSIM profile itself typically activates immediately, although activation can occasionally take up to 24 hours.

On an iPhone

VOXI may send an eSIM setup notification to your iPhone. If it doesn’t appear, install the eSIM manually:

  1. Connect the iPhone to Wi-Fi.

  2. Open “Settings.”

  3. Tap “Cellular” or “Mobile service.”

  4. Select “Add eSIM.”

  5. Choose “Use QR code.”

  6. Scan the QR code from your VOXI email.

  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the plan.

  8. Choose your VOXI line for mobile data, calls, and texts as required.

The options shown may vary slightly depending on your iPhone model, iOS version, and whether VOXI provides an automatic setup prompt.

On Samsung, Pixel, and other Android devices

On a Samsung Galaxy phone, open “Settings” > “Connections” > “SIM manager” > “Add eSIM,” then scan the QR code and follow the on-screen instructions.

On a Google Pixel, open “Settings” > “Network & internet” > “SIMs” > “Add SIM” > “Set up an eSIM,” then follow the prompts.

Other Android manufacturers may use slightly different menu names. Some devices also require you to enable the newly installed line before it can connect.

VOXI eSIM not activating: How to fix it

A VOXI eSIM can fail to activate for several reasons, from a used QR code to an incompatible or locked device. Start with the issue that matches what you’re seeing:

  • A QR code that won’t scan or has already been used may require manual installation details or a replacement eSIM profile.

  • An eSIM stuck on “Activating” may need a stable Wi-Fi connection and a phone restart. VOXI says activation can occasionally take up to 24 hours.

  • A profile that installs but shows no service may have the VOXI line disabled. Enable the line, restart the phone, toggle airplane mode on and off, and check the APN settings if service still doesn’t appear.

  • An eSIM showing no data abroad may have roaming switched off or an exhausted allowance. Check that it was activated in the UK before departure and whether you need a roaming pass.

  • A phone locked to another network needs to be unlocked before it can use VOXI.

  • An unsupported device won’t be able to activate the profile correctly. Check the phone against VOXI’s current compatibility list.

Contact VOXI support if activation still hasn’t completed after 24 hours or you need a replacement profile. Have your account details, device EID, and eSIM confirmation information ready.

Moving your VOXI eSIM to a new phone

A VOXI eSIM can be moved to another compatible phone, but you can’t simply treat it like a physical SIM and insert it into the new device.

To request a VOXI eSIM transfer, sign in to your account and open “Settings” > “Manage my SIM.” VOXI says that after requesting an online transfer, you must delete the existing eSIM within 12 hours or the transfer will be canceled.

Compatible iPhones can also use Apple’s quick transfer. When moving between different operating systems, use VOXI’s account-based transfer process or contact support rather than assuming the operating system’s own transfer tool will work.

Limitations of a VOXI eSIM and using it abroad

A VOXI eSIM is still a UK mobile plan, so switching from a physical SIM to an eSIM doesn’t change your plan’s roaming allowances or charges — and it doesn’t expand device support either, which remains limited to VOXI’s published compatibility list. VOXI doesn’t currently advertise a smartwatch eSIM service, and although VOXI originally launched eSIM for SIM-only purchases, its current website also provides setup instructions for devices bought directly from VOXI.

Once set up, the eSIM works abroad just like a physical SIM, provided it has been activated in the UK before you travel. What you pay depends on where you go — Ireland, Iceland, the Isle of Man, and Norway fall under VOXI’s Zone A roaming rules, with plan data subject to a 20 GB limit and unlimited standard minutes and texts. Most other European destinations require a European Roaming Pass, while destinations farther afield may require a Global Roaming Extra or account credit. Either way, VOXI’s Unlimited Social Media, Music, and Video benefits stop at the UK border — usage from those apps while roaming comes out of your plan’s general data allowance.

More generally, eSIM support still varies between devices, and transferring a digital SIM can involve an extra account process. Our guide to eSIMs vs. physical SIMs explains the differences in more detail.

VOXI eSIM vs. a travel eSIM: Which do you need?

A VOXI eSIM and a travel eSIM serve different purposes. VOXI provides an ongoing UK mobile plan with a UK number, calls, texts, and domestic data. A travel eSIM is designed primarily to provide connectivity for a particular trip and can usually run alongside your existing line.

UK residents who need a UK phone number, standard calls and texts, and mostly use their data at home may prefer a domestic mobile plan such as VOXI. A travel eSIM can be more flexible for heavy data users abroad, visitors to the UK who don’t need a domestic mobile plan, and travelers who want to keep their existing mobile line active.

Saily offers destination-specific plans and global options, and users can also add an eSIM with a phone number — a persistent US +1 number with optional calling and text plans.

No single eSIM is universally “best” in the UK — the right choice depends on whether you need an ongoing UK mobile service, local calls and texts, or data mainly for travel.
