Before we get into the nitty-gritty of what each eSIM app has to offer, let’s start with a broad overview of what you can expect from both Saily and Truely.

Truely vs. Saily: Which offers better data plans? 

Generally speaking, Saily offers more flexibility than Truely when it comes to its data plan offerings. Truely only offers unlimited travel eSIM plans with a pay-per-day pricing model, for up to 30 days at a time. On the other hand, Saily offers a mix of fixed, prepaid data plans for all of its available destinations (with choices between 1 GB to 100 GB, depending on the destination), as well as unlimited data plans in select destinations. All of Saily’s 1 GB plans are valid over 7 days, while others range from 30-365 days. For Saily’s unlimited plans, you can choose between 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 days of plan duration. 

For its unlimited data plans, Saily’s fair usage policy (FUP) specifies that users will get 5 GB of data per day with no speed restrictions, which will then drop down to up to 1 Mbps. This resets after a 24-hour period. Similarly, Truely’s FUP specifies that users will get 5 GB of data per day with no speed restrictions and then speeds are dropped to 512 Kbps.  

Both eSIM services cover 200+ destinations, but some are only exclusively covered by each respective company.

Both Saily and Truely offer regional data packages that cover multiple destinations, but only Saily offers Global eSIM plans with coverage in every continent (aside from Antarctica — maybe one day!). See for yourself how each eSIM service’s regional plan coverage compares in the chart below. 

Both Saily and Truely have extensive coverage with their regional packages, but Saily’s reach is a bit wider. If you’re headed to the Caribbean Islands or Africa, Saily’s regional plans cover more countries, but Truely’s got the edge with its Latin America plan coverage. Truely also doesn’t offer a Global plan at all, so if you’re looking to hop from continent to continent, Saily’s the way to go. Which one is cheaper in Europe, the US, and Italy: Saily or Truely?

In most cases, Saily offers cheaper eSIM plans than Truely across its available destinations when no promotional discounts have been applied. However, the price will also depend on the length of your trip and how much data you’re looking for. 

Truely only offers unlimited data that you pay for per day. A single day of data costs US$6.90, but the more days you pay for, the cheaper the daily rate.

Saily offers both fixed data plans (starting at 1 GB) as well as unlimited data plans (in select destinations). As you’ll see in the pricing chart below, Saily’s unlimited plans for Europe, the US, and Italy come at a significantly lower rate than Truely’s.

As you can see, Saily’s unlimited data plans are much cheaper than Truely’s — and unlike Truely, whose unlimited prices tend to stay the same no matter the destination, Saily offers more variety in its pricing.

But let’s back up a bit — do you really need unlimited data on your trip? Well, it depends on your internet habits. Some people prefer the peace of mind that comes with unlimited data, since they don’t have to worry about topping up if they run out. But if you’re not using much data while abroad, paying for an unlimited plan every day might mean you’re overspending.

If you’re a light data user who’d prefer to keep your vacation mostly screen free, you’re better off choosing one of Saily’s cheap, fixed data plans instead of paying a daily rate for unlimited data that you’ll barely use. A bit of leftover cash for souvenirs is a win in our book.

Is Truely or Saily more trustworthy?

While the trustworthiness of an eSIM service is subjective, we can examine factors like how old each company is, their endorsements, and what each company’s online reputation is like. 

Saily has grown rapidly since its introduction into the eSIM market, accruing 2M+ users since its launch in 2024. The eSIM service has its roots planted in the cybersecurity sphere, too — it was created by Nord Security, the same company behind leading VPN service provider NordVPN.
