VOXI roaming: Global and European roaming guide for 2026

Taking your VOXI SIM abroad? How much you pay and how much data you can use depend on where you’re going. VOXI roaming divides destinations into different zones, with some included in your regular plan and others requiring a European or Global roaming pass. This guide explains the VOXI roaming countries, passes, data limits, and charges you need to know about before you travel. We’ll also look at alternatives that can make staying connected overseas a little simpler.

VOXI roaming: Global and European roaming guide for 2026

How does VOXI roaming work?

Data roaming lets your phone connect to a mobile network outside your home country, so you can continue using mobile data, calls, and texts while traveling.

VOXI roaming works differently depending on your destination, with various passes and allowances applying across its roaming zones. In a small group of European destinations, your existing VOXI allowance will work without an additional pass. Most European destinations require a European Roaming Pass, while a Global Roaming Extra covers 73 destinations farther afield. In other countries, you may need account credit, and pay-as-you-go roaming charges will apply.

VOXI originally operated on Vodafone’s network, but since 2026, it has used what it calls “The Nation’s Network” — the infrastructure combining Vodafone and Three networks.

The main drawback for frequent travelers is that VOXI mobile roaming can involve different rules, passes, allowances, and charges from one destination to another. If you travel regularly, a travel eSIM such as Saily can provide another way to connect without relying entirely on your UK mobile plan.

VOXI roaming countries list

VOXI divides its roaming destinations into three main groups. Zone A includes four destinations where roaming is available without an extra pass. Zone B covers most European destinations and requires a European Roaming Pass. VOXI global roaming uses a Global Roaming Extra in 73 eligible destinations outside Zone B (Europe).

VOXI roaming passes and plans for different locations

If you’re traveling abroad with VOXI, the roaming plan you need depends on which zone your destination is in.

Zone A (roaming included)

VOXI Ireland roaming, VOXI Norway roaming, and roaming in Iceland or the Isle of Man work without buying an additional roaming pass.

You can use your regular plan allowance, although VOXI data roaming is limited to your plan’s inclusive data or 20 GB per 30-day plan — whichever is lower. Unlimited minutes, texts, and MMS are also included.

Zone B (European Roaming Pass required)

For most VOXI Europe roaming destinations, including popular destinations such as France, Greece, Italy, and Spain, you need a VOXI European Roaming Pass.

The pass lets you use your regular plan’s general-purpose data, subject to a maximum 20 GB fair-use allowance, along with unlimited standard minutes and texts.

VOXI’s Unlimited Social Media, Unlimited Music, and Unlimited Video benefits are UK only. Abroad, data from these apps is deducted from your general allowance instead.

If you’re visiting several countries, a regional eSIM for Europe is worth considering — it lets you use one data plan across supported destinations.

Rest of the world (Global Roaming Extra required)

VOXI international roaming outside Europe works differently. In 73 eligible destinations, including the US, Turkey, and Morocco, you can buy a Global Roaming Extra.

Unlike VOXI’s European passes, these Extras include fixed amounts of data, calls, and texts rather than letting you access your home VOXI allowance. The allowances are relatively small, with the larger option providing 4 GB of data for 15 days, so heavier data users may need another solution.

Countries not covered by the Global Roaming Extra may require credit on your VOXI account, with usage charged at the standard roaming rate for that destination.

VOXI roaming charges

VOXI roaming charges depend on the destination, the relevant zone, and the pass you buy.

European passes activate as soon as you buy them rather than when you first use them abroad, so buying one too early can waste part of its validity period. Global Roaming Extras also activate immediately, although their allowances only work in eligible destinations.

With a Global Roaming Extra, calls received use your minutes allowance. Calls and texts to the UK and standard numbers in the country you’re visiting are included, but calls to another country and non-standard numbers may cost extra. Once you exhaust an Extra, further usage is charged at VOXI’s standard roaming rates.

European data remains subject to VOXI’s 20 GB fair-use policy. The company also applies longer-term fair-use rules intended to prevent permanent roaming.

VOXI roaming pay-as-you-go rates

In destinations that aren’t covered by Zone A, a European Roaming Pass, or a Global Roaming Extra, you can’t buy a pass. Instead, you need credit on your VOXI account, and calls, texts, and mobile data are charged at the standard roaming rate for that destination. The same standard rates can also apply after you use up a Global Roaming Extra and choose to continue using your credit balance.

  • United Arab Emirates, including Dubai — ROW1.

  • South Korea — ROW1.

  • Maldives — ROW2.

  • Andorra — ROW3.

  • Nepal — ROW3.

Data charges can mount up very quickly. In Dubai, for example, ROW1 data costs 12p per MB, so using 1 GB (1,024 MB) would cost about £122.88 if charged entirely at the pay-as-you-go rate.

How to buy a VOXI roaming pass

You can buy a VOXI roaming pass online through your VOXI account.

  1. Sign in to your VOXI account.

  2. Check which roaming zone your destination belongs to.

  3. Choose the appropriate European Roaming Pass or Global Roaming Extra.

  4. Select the duration that best matches your trip.

  5. Complete the purchase using the payment method linked to your account.

  6. Check your account to confirm that the pass or Extra is active.

VOXI passes start immediately after purchase, so buy a VOXI roaming pass as close to your departure date as possible rather than several days in advance.

How to activate VOXI roaming

Your VOXI eSIM or SIM card must first be activated in the UK — otherwise, roaming won’t be enabled. Once that’s done, follow these steps when traveling:

  1. Make sure your regular VOXI plan is active.

  2. Buy the required roaming pass or Extra for your destination.

  3. Open your phone settings.

  4. Go to “Mobile data,” “Cellular,” or your device’s equivalent mobile-network menu.

  5. Select your VOXI line if you use more than one SIM.

  6. Turn “Data roaming” on.

  7. Leave network selection on automatic so your phone can connect to a supported local network.

  8. Restart your phone if it doesn’t connect after you arrive.

If you regularly switch between SIMs while traveling, understanding the difference between an eSIM and a physical SIM card can also make managing your mobile connection easier. You can also read more about how a traditional SIM card works.

How Saily can help you avoid high VOXI roaming charges

VOXI roaming can work well for occasional travel, particularly within Zone A or for shorter European trips. For frequent international travel, however, buying destination-specific passes and keeping track of different data limits can become restrictive.

Saily offers prepaid Global eSIM plans covering 121 destinations, which allows you to use mobile data across multiple countries without switching physical SIM cards or relying on your UK carrier’s international roaming rates.

For frequent travelers, the Saily Ultra plan provides a broader subscription-based alternative to a traditional VOXI global roaming plan. Ultra includes international data across 121 destinations, with high-speed data followed by unlimited data at up to 1 Mbps, alongside travel and online security benefits.

Unlike VOXI’s Global Roaming Extras, which provide up to 4 GB for each 15-day purchase, Saily Ultra plans offer larger monthly high-speed data allowances and continued lower-speed data after that allowance is used. Current Saily Ultra pricing includes Standard, Plus, and Premium options.

Saily Ultra now also includes phone-number functionality, with Premium plans offering included calling minutes and SMS. It’s a handy option for travelers who want data, calls, and texts covered in one plan.

You can download the Saily eSIM app before traveling and manage your plan digitally. For a broader look at your options before leaving home, see our guide to international roaming.
